Are you looking for the ultimate vacation in Okinawa? I stayed at the newly renovated Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort in the summer of 2025.
Based on my experience, here are some “real” tips to help you enjoy 120% of your stay!
🌊 Marine Activities: Don’t Be Too Relaxed!
At Zanpa Beach, you can rent Canoes, SUPs, and parasols for free (some specific activities require a fee).
- Where to book: Go directly to the “Beach House” (Activity Counter) on the beach to make your reservation.
- Advice: If you are too relaxed, slots can fill up quickly! Activities may also end early depending on the weather. I recommend planning your day and booking as early as possible.
🍽 Tips for a Smooth Breakfast
The breakfast is very popular and can get crowded, but there is a convenient system in place.
- Queuing System: If the main hall is full, you can get a waiting ticket at the reception. You can check your turn on your smartphone, so you can wait comfortably in your room. When I visited, the wait was about 40 minutes.
- Want to skip the wait? There is an “Annex Hall” right next to the main one. The food menu is exactly the same. The atmosphere is a bit different, but it’s a great choice if you want to save time!
🏊 One of Okinawa’s Largest Pools: Open Until 10 PM!
The pool area, which opened in August 2024, is impressive in both size and facilities.
- Night Pool: The pool is lit up in green and blue, creating a magical atmosphere! It’s heated, so it’s very comfortable even after sunset.
- Free Services: Towels, lockers, and even swimsuit dryers are provided. You can go “hands-free”!
- Grab the Purple Ring: The free purple floating rings are very popular. If they are out of stock, keep an eye out for someone returning one and grab it immediately!
- The Thrilling Sliders: You must try the 2-person slide! It’s exciting, and you might even flip over when you hit the water—it’s all part of the fun (just remember to hold on tight!).
🚌 Pro-Tip: Visit “Hotel Nikko Alivila”
You can take a free shuttle bus to the partner hotel, Hotel Nikko Alivila.
- Nirai Beach: The sea in front of Alivila is one of the clearest in Okinawa! It has fewer large rocks than Zanpa Beach and is incredibly beautiful. It is definitely worth a visit.
- For Long Stays: If you are staying for multiple nights, it’s fun to visit Alivila’s restaurants for a change of menu and atmosphere.
✨ Why International Travelers Love It
- English-Friendly: The front desk has many international staff members, so communication is very smooth.
- Luxury All-Inclusive: Enjoy free-flow beer, wine, and snacks (15:00–18:00) and spirits/appetizers (21:00–23:00). It’s all included in your room rate, so you can relax without worries.
Summary: In the summer of 2025, I enjoyed the best sunsets and pool time. If you want a stress-free and luxurious Okinawan vacation, this is definitely the best choice!
